Toddler-Friendly Christmas Tree Decorations

Toddler-Friendly Christmas Tree Decorations

There are only:

until Christmas Day!

Crazy, right?!

There’s no denying it, Christmas is fast approaching, and if you’re like me and can’t get enough of the holiday you’ve started decorating for Christmas already! (Our Christmas Tree has been up since November 1st!)

This year we have a Toddler in the house for Christmas and that has impacted how we decorate big time.

A Christmas Tree to a toddler is like a magnet to a fridge, a cat to a laser, and a man to his bathroom hideout!

Toddlers want to pull off every ornament, eat said ornaments and if you get a real tree, nothing looks tastier than a needle from a Douglas Fir.

You could get one of those HUGE, ugly octagon play pins and guard your tree against tiny finger invasions. OR you can skip the traditional Christmas decorations and make your Christmas Tree Toddler-friendly!

Baby & Toddler-Friendly Christmas Tree Decorations

You only need two things for a Toddler-friendly Christmas Tree, a fake tree, and Candy Canes!

Yep – that’s it! You now have a Toddler-Friendly Christmas Tree!

I came up with the idea to use Candy Canes when Jade was a toddler. I did not want to worry about my Christmas ornaments getting broken, Jade chocking or glass getting embedded into tiny toes.

It is inexpensive and if (I should say when) a Candy Cane got broken I just threw it away.

She had so much fun redecorating the tree over and over and I did not have to stress!

This year we are doing the same with Rayne and so far so good!

I have a 7 foot tall artificial Christmas Tree and I bought 5 – 12 pack boxes of Candy Canes from Dollar Tree this year. That was plenty for us, if you like a packed out tree buy a couple more boxes.

If you don’t have an artificial Christmas Tree already you can pick one up and even Amazon has a good selection.

You can even get creative with your Candy Cane color scheme, and sizes. Every year more colors are released and they even have character themed wrappers like Frozen, Mickey Mouse Holiday, and even Spongebob!

What do you think about using Candy Canes for Christmas Tree decorations? Do you have any Toddler Christmas hacks?

  1. This is so cute! One year we were moving around the Holidays and my mom couldn’t find out tree ornaments. She used ribbon to make bows and candy canes. The tree was so beautiful and simple and budget friendly!
