I admit it, I am one of “those” Moms that turns on the TV and directs my oldest to “sit down and calm down”. (My kid has more energy, spunk and I don’t even know for 10 children.)
I am also one of “those” Moms who puts on a TV show or movie before bed to transition into sleep mode. My oldest, Jade, needs that time to unwind before books and bed, otherwise, she is doing burpees while singing upside down.
We have a set of go-to shows on Netflix & Amazon Prime that we put on and it’s almost like instant relaxation for her. All of which, just happen to be best-selling children’s books. Four of them are narrated in an English accent, two of them by Helena Bonham Carter (If you’re a HP fan you know who I am talking about).
The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child, Room on the Broom and Stick Man are all written by the same author, Julia Donaldson and are animated in the same style.
I don’t know what it is about an English accent but it can be so soothing. Half of the time I am falling asleep while I am watching them with her.
I may have a thing for British audio books. I listen to Pride & Prejudice on YouTube read by Karen Savage to put myself to sleep most nights.

This one is Rayne’s favorite. I think it’s all the bright colors.
We love all of these book-movies, and often have them going for background noise.
Has your family seen any of these? What is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
